Background: Acupuncture has been proven effective in the treatment of pain and other health issues but is not uniformly covered by insurance. 

What this bill does: H.1184 (co-filed with Representative Rodney Elliot) would mandate health plans cover acupuncture and “oriental” medicine in certain cases, ensure equal reimbursement for providers, and create a Commission on Acupuncture and Wellness to study the issue further and make legislative recommendations.
