Full Bill Title: An Act relative to the establishment of a means-tested senior citizen property tax exemption
Current Status: Read more.
Background: Sudbury has operated a pilot program for years providing targeted tax relief to seniors without reducing town revenues. The popular program was renewed in Sudbury in 2018 and 2021.
What this bill does: H.2809 (co-filed with Rep. David DeCoste) seeks to create a local option that would have to be approved at town meeting, which would allow senior long-term residents who were eligible for the senior circuit breaker tax credit in the previous taxable year to receive a property tax abatement on their home.
Rep. Gentile visits the Marlborough Senior Center.
