Senate Bill: S.1972
Current Status: Read More
Background: Commonwealth municipalities provide countless necessary services and require reliable sources of revenue to support residents. Since the MA legislature granted the approval of a local-option meals tax in 2009, Massachusetts residents have paid only .75% more on meals in order to continue to receive necessary services.
What this bill does: This resolution expands the local-option meal tax rate to $1.50, which will continue to provide the Commonwealth with necessary revenue at a minimal cost to the consumer.
