Background: LGBTQIA+ youth face higher rates of mental health challenges, discrimination, and bullying than their straight, cisgender peers. Creating LGBTQIA+ Parent Advisory Councils would help schools and families collaborate to build more inclusive environments and ensure all students can access a supportive public education.

What this legislation does:  (H.3980) This bill would establish LGBTQIA+ parent advisory councils in public school districts similar to existing special education parent advisory councils and English learner parent advisory councils.
