Background: Individuals who are eligible to vote are often unregistered or unaware that they need to reregister because they moved, got married, or changed their name. 21 states and Washington DC currently allow voters to register to vote on election day. Some states, such as Maine and Minnesota have successfully run elections with SDVR for over 50 years. In the 2020 election, 2587 provisional ballots were rejected in Massachusetts.
What this bill does: H.688 allows elligible individuals to register to vote at polling places on election day.
