H.1524 - An Act to eliminate the charitable immunity cap

Current Status: Read more.

Senate Bill: S.1064 - Senator Mark C. Montigny. Read more.

Background: Currently, if you sue a non-profit for negligence in the Commonwealth, the maximum judgment you can receive is $20,000 (or $100,000 for medical malpractice) no matter how severe the injury to you.

What this bill would do: H.1524 would bring Massachusetts in line with the other 49 states in the area of liability treatment of non-profits, by eliminating the cap on damages.
